The Experience

Spanish product, Japanese accents, a warm welcome.

Kuvo is the restaurant Óscar and Pilar opened in Estepona at the end of 2022. This is what to expect when you sit down.

Product first, flavours from further east

The menu starts with the product: Rubia Gallega beef aged for 45 days, wild turbot, scallops, Oscietra caviar. Then it brings in yuzu, miso, kimchi, yakiniku and shichimi, the Japanese seven-spice.

Plates are finished by hand, in small batches, with tweezers when the detail calls for it.

The room

Lanterns, tile and dark stone

Paper lanterns hang over dark stone tables and velvet chairs. The walls are clad in scalloped and star-patterned tile, and a window looks through to the kitchen.

It is polished without being formal: a room for lunch that runs long, or a full table at dinner.

We think of our guests as people invited to a party where we are the hosts. Our job, every day, is to make each moment of it a little better.

Kuvo's house philosophy

The people

Óscar & Pilar

On Instagram they describe Kuvo simply: the place where Pilar and Óscar turn every service into a gastronomic experience, with technique, passion and product at its heart.

Óscar and Pilar started their first business in 2008, after years of travelling: El Toque, a very small tapas bar beside the Iglesia del Carmen. Year by year they refined it into one of Estepona's references, the place with full tables, shared laughter and the patatas bravas, tostas and pinchos that locals and visitors kept coming back for.

El Toque closed in October 2022, and there are still people who call to book a table there. Two months later the couple opened Kuvo on Avenida Andalucía, in a completely different format: a more refined menu, a tasting menu with optional wine pairing, and the same instinct for looking after people.
